Privacy Policy

CheckYourSpeed.net is built to be simple and privacy-friendly. We do not require accounts and we avoid collecting personal data unnecessarily. This page explains what information may be processed when you use the site.

1) What the website does

Our tools measure connection quality (download speed, ping and jitter) and display the results on your screen. We also provide optional tools such as a browser privacy/leak check and Wi-Fi stability test.

2) What we do NOT do

  • No sign-up: we don’t require accounts.
  • No selling your data: we do not sell personal data.
  • No “profile building”: we do not build personal profiles from your speed test usage.
  • No storing speed results in a database: your test results are shown to you and are not saved as a user record.

3) Information that may be processed (technical basics)

Like all websites, our server and third-party services may process some technical information to deliver the site correctly:

  • IP address: required to deliver content to your device.
  • Basic request data: such as the pages you request and approximate time of access.
  • Device/browser basics: used to render the site properly (e.g., screen size, browser capabilities).

On the homepage, we also display your IPv4/IPv6 and basic location/ISP estimate to you. This is shown for transparency so you can see what a typical website can infer. We do not store this as a personal profile.

4) Analytics (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics to understand overall usage (for example: which pages are most visited, which countries visitors come from, and general device types). This helps us improve performance and content.

Google Analytics may set cookies or use similar technologies. For details, see our Cookies Policy.

5) Advertising (Google AdSense)

We may show ads via Google AdSense to help keep the site free. AdSense may use cookies and/or similar technologies to measure ad performance and, depending on your region and settings, may personalise ads.

You can learn more about controlling cookies and ad preferences in your Cookies Policy and within your Google account ad settings.

6) Local storage (theme preference)

The site may store your light/dark mode preference using local storage in your browser. This is not a cookie and does not identify you.

7) External services used by tools

Some tools may call external services to show results (for example, an IP lookup service). These services may receive your IP address because your browser connects to them directly to fetch the information. We only use such services to provide the tool output.

8) Data security

We take reasonable steps to keep the site secure. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If you believe you’ve found a security issue, please contact us.

9) Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site grows. When we do, we’ll update this page accordingly.
